Unknitting

Knitting and reknitting and unknitting and making a general knitting nuisance in an attempt to make one darn hat - while the kids swim. I made one whole hat but it was too big but too short and too bunchy- not at all like the pattern. So I half ripped it and was trying to modify the crown before giving up because it was still too large around. Ripped completely. Recast on with smaller needles and smallest cast on numbers and after the whole twisted rubbing was done, it's now too small. 🙄🙄🙄🙄😭😭😭😭 So I'm putting this crown on waste yarn to maybe finish for my son while I cast on again. Should I use smaller needles and medium cast on number or called for needles and smallest cast on or smaller needles and largest cast on 🤔🤔🤔? 🤯🥴

Inky

I wasn't sure I liked the contrast border color I picked for my Inky Shawl by @sosuknits Susanne Sommer when I was blocking it - the color contrast is pretty severe even though the @malabrigoyarn pink I choose was in both skeins of @hedgehogfibres I had for the brioche section. But wearing it scrunched up, it looks great.

Finished a thing! (Sort of)

Poor planning: I grabbed a to-go project that only had 20 minutes of knitting left on it for a 30 minute wait time. So now I'm instagramming. But some daughter tube socks are done now! (Except for grafting the toe. And weaving in the ends. And logging it in Ravelry. And taking a finished product picture. But yeah, it's done 😂)

(Almost) Year’s End

Inspired by @wrappedinwool post, I made a #makenine2018 collage. All items in my queue. I thought this was a challenging list but I have yarn for all but the last two sweaters. Even though I have yarn for the first two garments, I really 💗 the Fade Cardi and the Jelly Roll sweater and might attempt them first, if I can afford that much yarn 😅

To list the patterns starting top left and reading down like a paragraph:

I did an audit of finished products and made 24 things this year (if I don't finish anything else in the next few days). My FOs are steadily declining- 32 in 2016, 34 in 2015, and 40 in 2014. But I think the quality is improving. Maybe. Definitely more knits and less crochet which is faster.

Here's the break down of finished items each year:

2017

1 adult garment (Long bolero)

1 shawl

2 child or baby sweaters

3 child or baby vests

7 socks (5 ankle, 2 kid)

4 hats

5 edged baby blankets

2016

3 adult sweaters

1 blanket

4 shawls

5 child or baby sweaters

1 cowl

2 socks (1 ankle)

6 hats

8 edged baby blankets

2 sets of ornaments

2015

1 blanket

4 shawls

6 child or baby sweaters

1 scarf

6 socks (3 ankle, 2 child)

4 child leg warmers

8 hats

3 edged baby blankets

I set baby sandals

2014 (40)

1 adult sweater

5 child sweaters or dresses

2 scarves

2 socks (1 adult, 1 baby)

4 child leg warmers

14 hats

7 edged baby blankets

5 flowers or toys

One can tell from the number of edged baby blankets how many friends of mine had children each year 😂

Two socks in a day!

#100daysofmaking: I finished two pairs of tube socks for Emma today from leftover yarn of socks I made for myself - Zauberball and Nomadic Yarns Molly Weasley. I was almost done with both so just had a tiny left to finish both pairs. I was afraid the Zauberball pair was going to be too narrow but they fit well. The Molly socks are too loose but I knew that as I was knitting them and just am hoping that's room to grow.

Wrist troubles

#100daysofmaking: A little car line sock knitting. I may need to take a knitting break though, my wrist has been hurting a lot more recently. 😫😩😓

Angry Dragon

#100daysofmaking: Working on the second round of color wedges of my daughter's Angry Dragon shawl by Tri Coterie Designs in a mini skein set from Safronie. I used a tiny but more than half of each mini skein for the first triangle so we shall see if I'm able to get a second whole triangle from the rest. It is turning out cute but not as rainbowy as my daughter wanted so I'm sure I'll be commissioned to make another more rainbowish shawl.

More yarn!

#100daysofmaking: Soo I might have gotten some more yarn. But people, I'm on a blazing hot sock streak and if I finish something, I totally am justified in getting more, right? Right? Also DVD has a long time line so it won't be arriving for at least a month, which means I didn't actually get any yarn today. So there's that. #operationsockdrawer

Muggles

I started a shawl with this mini skein kit I got from the Erin Lane Bag yarn/bag/pattern club (not using the pattern the yarn and bag came with) and am loving this yarn. I told my husband it was so juicy and bouncy and he was like " Did you just describe your yarn as bouncy and juicy!!?!" Muggles.

Sweater in a year

#100daysofmaking: one sleeve away from finishing my Little Rocky Coast Cardigan by Hannah Fetig @knitbot in @unwindyarncompany Luxe Sock in The Great Berry Caper. I could possibly complete this in under a year... 🙄😳🤔
I added length to the body and the sleeves so that hopefully Emma can wear this next year too. She may not get it to wear it this winter at all since Alabama has decided it only needed a week of cold weather before going straight back into summer 😂 #70degreesandwearingshortsleevestoday

Yellow Tail

#100daysofmaking: Some pre yoga knitting on my Yellow Tail by @taigahilliard in @caterpillargreen MCN Shawl in Ocean Sunset. This has been in my stash and queue for ages but @manicpurl inspired me to cast on with pics of her Yellow Tail in Caterpillar Green.

100 Days of Making: Baby Sweater

#100daysofmaking: The bad shot of my Baby Vertebrae sweater upside down in the yoga studio lobby. The yarn is an acrylic Hobby Lobby yarn that I only liked so so when I crocheted with it but it is looking so beautiful knit up! Photos are really not catching the subtle shades of yellows in the yarn. It started out as a Newborn Vertebrae but the sport weight yarn has turned it into a 6-12 month version. Oh well.
